Non-Violence Advocacy (with UNDP)

Over a period of ten months, from March to December 2022, we had the opportunity to work with 42 communities in Lebanon to promote a culture of non- violence, by forming a team of facilitators/clowns that met with a task force in these different communities. Together, they came up with ideas for activities for a public event day in their respective comunities.

The event was divided into two parts; one for play and activities, and another for a forum theatre play created by the Clown Me In team. Each group had to choose two of four scenes proposed by CMI, which were about violent situations that happen on a daily basis at home, at school, or even on the streets. The spectators were invited to come up on stage, take the role of one of the characters and change the flow of the action to prevent violence and deal with the problem in a more peaceful way.

Through this project, we were able to reach 9,200 people across 42 events.

Violence-free Community 2024

In 2024, our team worked with 18 different communities in different areas of the country, reaching around 4,931 Syrian and Lebanese people.
The project aimed to promote a culture of constructive communication and respect for others, in the Bekaa and in the North of Lebanon, with the primary objective of fostering non-violence among both Lebanese and non-Lebanese individuals, and striving to create a resilient, tolerant, and cohesive society.
CMI’s team collaborated with the local communities to plan and organize the sessions as well as reaching out to participants, and selecting and designing the games.
The resulting games were played during an event day, open to the community. During the event, the CMI team animated the four games developed in the meetings and presented one of its forum theatre scenes, each addressing different forms of violence, such as body shaming, violence in schools, sexual and verbal
harassment in the streets and family oppression.

UNDP Events 2025

In August and September 2025, Clown Me In partnered with several NGOs across different regions of the country to design and implement seven community-based events. Responding to the specific needs and contexts identified by each partner, the activities were tailored to engage diverse groups within the communities. Some participants were invited to take part in Forum Theatre, creating space for dialogue and collective reflection; others joined interactive giant games that encouraged play, cooperation, and connection; while wider audiences attended clown performances that brought moments of laughter and emotional relief. In several locations, these activities were combined to create dynamic, multi-layered events.

These interventions aimed to foster a sense of togetherness by bringing people from different backgrounds into shared spaces of interaction, creativity, and expression. Through participatory and inclusive approaches, the events helped strengthen social bonds, encourage mutual understanding, and offer communities a much-needed opportunity to reconnect in a positive and engaging environment.
