CATCH in Syria

After 7 years of working with Syrian refugees in Lebanon and abroad, Clown Me In made it to Syria, and more specifically to As-Sweida.

Three trainers gave sessions in As-Sweida, south Syria in February, despite all the trouble they got into from finding a place to host the training, making sure there’s constant electricity feed, and that the location had heaters, as well as looking for diesel for the heaters through a fuel shortage.

The sessions were given to 12 participants: 4 males and 8 females coming from different backgrounds. The trainers made sure to include a wide variety of exercises from physical to improvisations and creativity-provoking exercises.

According to the testimonies of the participants, this workshop helped them a lot on the personal level where they were reminded of the importance of laughter as well as acquiring new techniques and exercises to be used by those who volunteer with children and adults. They definitely left wanting more.

This project was possible and supported by online donations, Clowns Without Borders Sweden and Haneen Theater Company – As-Sweida.

Trainers: Stephanie Sotiry, Hisham Assaad, and Feras Hatem
